RHS CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW 2026 CELEBRATES A NEW ERA OF GARDENING
Beneath the spring skies of Chelsea, the world’s most celebrated flower show opens its gates in a flourish of colour, texture and storytelling for 2026 with this year recognising a special tribute to Sir David Attenborough for his 100th birthday.
Last week the BBC celebrated Attenborough’s birthday at the Royal Albert Hall with a night for “David Attenborough’s 100 Years on Planet Earth” and many have recognised his remarkable contribution to wildlife conservation and environmental awareness, as well as his lifelong dedication to educating the public about the natural world.
One special exhibit that will be taking place at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026 will celebrate Sir David Attenborough in his 100th Birthday year. This exhibit will include 10 plants to reflect the dominant gardening theme from every decade of his life, and are “hero plants for wildlife”.
The Bringing Nature Home display, that has been designed by Dave Green for the Great Pavilion, will run from 19th-23rd May and will take the form of terraced houses, illustrating how gardens connect.
Helen Bostock, RHS senior wildlife specialist, who curated the plant list, said: "Nobody has opened up the natural world better to the general public than Sir David Attenborough."
This year’s Chelsea Flower Show reflects many of the environmental themes that Attenborough has championed throughout his career. Gardens across the show highlight biodiversity, sustainable planting and climate-conscious design, while encouraging visitors to support pollinators and protect green spaces. These ideas, now central to modern gardening and conservation, mirror the powerful messages Attenborough has shared with audiences for decades.

Another beautiful way of being a part of Chelsea Flower Show is visiting Chelsea in Bloom. Chelsea’s streets transform into a magical outdoor gallery of flowers. Shops, restaurants, and public spaces become a canvas of huge floral sculptures and imaginative displays and remains free to visit for the public.
