YOUNG VIC THEATRE ANNOUNCES FOUR NEW SHOWS COMPLETING ITS 2026/7 SEASON
Lashana Lynch, Ben Whishaw, Kathryn Hunter and Edward Watson feature in a programme spanning new writing, dance, immersive performance and international theatre.
The Young Vic has unveiled four new productions completing its 2026/27 season, bringing together some of the most exciting names across theatre, film, dance and performance.
Lashana Lynch will lead the world premiere of dissent, a new play written and directed by Olivier and BAFTA Award-winner debbie tucker green, while former Royal Ballet Principal Edward Watson and internationally acclaimed performer Meow Meow will appear in an immersive new interpretation of Franz Kafka’s A Hunger Artist.
The programme also brings Milo Rau and Servane Dècle’s The Pelicot Trial to London County Hall for its UK premiere, alongside the London premiere of FlawBored’s dark new satire What’s The F**king Point? and DARKFIELD’s immersive audio experience Eulogy.
The newly announced works join a season that already includes Ben Whishaw and Kathryn Hunter in Eurotrash, Colin Teevan’s adaptation of Christian Kracht’s cult novel, directed by Walter Meierjohann.
Running in the Young Vic’s Main House from 5 March to 24 April 2027, dissent sees Lashana Lynch return to the stage in the latest work from debbie tucker green, one of Britain’s most distinctive contemporary playwrights and filmmakers. Written and directed by tucker green, the world premiere brings together a creative team including designer Ruby Law (RULA), lighting designer Paule Constable, sound designer Christopher Shutt and movement director Vicki Manderson.
Elsewhere, Milo Rau and Servane Dècle’s The Pelicot Trial will receive its UK premiere at London County Hall on 30 November 2026. Drawing on testimonies, trial documents, police files and social commentary surrounding the Gisèle Pelicot case, the one-off documentary theatre event will be performed by 30 actors and public figures.
Following its world premiere at the Vienna Festival, the work comes to London as a theatrical examination of sexual violence, justice and the extraordinary public impact of Pelicot’s decision to waive her anonymity.
In June, Edward Watson reunites with director and choreographer Arthur Pita for an immersive adaptation of Kafka’s A Hunger Artist, following their Olivier Award-winning collaboration on The Metamorphosis. Watson stars as the Hunger Artist alongside Meow Meow as the Impresario, with audiences invited to move through a world of live music, dance, theatre and Weimar-inspired cabaret.
The season will also welcome FlawBored’s What’s The F**king Point?, a darkly comic exploration of disability, diagnosis and identity, while DARKFIELD’s Eulogy will transform a shipping container outside the theatre into a surreal experience performed entirely in darkness.
Together, the productions form part of Artistic Director and CEO Nadia Fall’s 2026/27 programme for the Young Vic, a season moving between intimate new writing, international theatre and boundary-pushing performance, while taking work beyond the traditional stage.
Tickets will be available 11am on 7 October 2026 for the newly announced productions. Tickets will be available here www.youngvic.org
