HALCYON TO INTRODUCE GRACELAND LONDON TO ITS GALLERY PROGRAMME

Artist Graceland London will make her debut with Halcyon through its upcoming programme.

Spotlight on the Shadows, her first solo exhibition with the gallery, bringing together around 30 works produced over the past two years. The exhibition offers a broad view of her distinctive style.

As part of the presentation, the gallery’s curatorial team has collaborated closely with the artist to transform 29 New Bond Street into an immersive environment. Three-dimensional installations extend her visual language beyond the canvas, bringing her imaginative, otherworldly creations into the physical space.

Graceland London’s background in 3D animation and design plays a key role in shaping her practice. It informs her creation of recurring characters and motifs that define her unique visual vocabulary. Her work expands beyond the picture plane into a universe built from fluorescent, candy-like colours and fluid, expressive forms.

Her strong foundation in art history, particularly her interest in the Old Masters, also underpins her approach. She often draws on traditional techniques, echoing the precision and depth of 15th-century Northern European painters such as Jan van Eyck and Hieronymus Bosch. At the same time, she reinterprets these influences to explore contemporary concerns.

Through the alternative realities she constructs, Graceland London addresses themes central to modern life, including mental health, addiction, conspiracy culture, consumerism, and excess. Using symbolism drawn from both historical and contemporary sources, her work balances sharp critique with moments of humour.

Alongside the exhibition of original paintings at Halcyon, Graceland London will also release a series of limited-edition prints from Spotlight on the Shadows in collaboration with sister gallery Castle Fine Art.

Reflecting on her process, Graceland London explains that her work combines traditional and modern techniques: she primarily uses flat acrylic paint, incorporating a single application of oil within each piece. This deliberate contrast allows her to combine the immediacy of acrylics with the depth of oils, creating layered, dynamic compositions.
