DOMINIC HARRIS’ EXHIBITION OPENS AT SALON ART + DESIGN NEW YORK
Dominic Harris brings his critically-acclaimed exhibition Feeding Consciousness to New York’s Salon Art + Design fair.

Leading British digital artist Dominic Harris will present his acclaimed Feeding Consciousness exhibition this month at Salon Art + Design in New York City, one of the world’s most prestigious fairs for collectible design and art.
Bringing together 50 leading international exhibitors, Salon Art + Design showcases exceptional works spanning vintage, modern and contemporary design, alongside blue-chip 20th-century art.
This year marks the debut appearance of Halcyon Gallery at the fair. The London-based gallery has chosen to present Feeding Consciousness following the exhibition’s successful summer run at its Mayfair gallery.
Founded in 1982, Halcyon Gallery is internationally recognised for its expertise in modern and contemporary art. The gallery represents both established and emerging artists, including Bob Dylan and Dominic Harris, while also specialising in works by masters such as Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso and David Hockney. Its programme includes major public installations and museum-scale exhibitions across the UK and internationally.
Visitors to Halcyon Gallery’s space at Salon Art + Design will experience Harris’s immersive digital worlds, which explore themes ranging from nature and mythology to financial markets, online media and climate change. Through his signature blend of technology, interactivity and storytelling, Harris transforms these subjects into richly detailed environments that respond directly to audience engagement.
At the centre of the exhibition is Harris’s landmark work, Feeding Consciousness is a ten-foot digital sculpture inspired by the Bible story of the Tower of Babel. Using artificial intelligence and live datasets, the installation visualises the UK’s collective consciousness by displaying the five most searched topics on Google UK across 180 LCD screens and an accompanying split-flap Solari display.

Harris first partnered with Halcyon Gallery in 2019 for Imagine, the largest retrospective exhibition of his work to date. The show featured celebrated pieces including Flutter Wall, the butterfly installation that first established his international reputation.
With Feeding Consciousness, Harris pushes his artistic and technical practice further, creating interactive mythological and environmental landscapes that invite viewers to influence the worlds around them. Audiences can step into realms inspired by Greek mythology, interacting with figures such as Zeus, Poseidon and Atlas by triggering lightning storms, shifting daylight and altering the surrounding environment in real time.
Born in London in 1976, Harris originally trained as an architect before founding his studio in Notting Hill in 2007. From there, he and his team create immersive artworks and installations that merge craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology.

Influenced by art history, classical literature, pop art, Victorian engineering and the natural world, Harris’s works have attracted collectors including Ron Dennis, Eric Schmidt and Leonard Lauder. His installations have appeared in locations ranging from Heathrow Airport and Tower Bridge to luxury Norwegian cruise ships.
Harris’s works are digitally hand-painted using techniques comparable to traditional oil painting, while his use of responsive technology creates an immediacy and emotional connection impossible to achieve through static art alone.
Speaking about the exhibition, Harris said: “The artworks I create are about interactive storytelling. By using technology in ways that were previously impossible, I draw the viewer in to become immersed in the artwork. The ultimate objective is to stimulate the viewer to feel more deeply, and in doing so to reveal something about themselves.”

Salon Art + Design is at Park Avenue Armory from 9th-13th November 2023, presenting an international selection of collectible design and fine art spanning furniture, ceramics, studio glass, Japanese art and jewellery.
